Which spec did you use for the alignment? There are two settings from factory, one aggressive for tracking, another one for street.

it has always been set to street setting.this car has had this problem all along the first front tires were ruined at 3000 mi i have owned many new cars and i wont put up with this.i find nissan has a bad attitude.car manufacturers must think everyone that buys is supposed to believe them when they say there is nothing wrong with a car. i bought a new cts sport wagon four months ago no problem with the tires in fact its a great car. i love fast cars but i dont drive hard in turns i just like hp .i also have a 99 425 all wheel hp dsm and a 95 full moded rx7 and no tire problems. so if i have to go to war with nissan well all i have to say is i cant wait.

Wow, you must get on it, or drive on crappy roads. Maybe just bad servicing. Not a common problem I've heard of for the GTR.

+1. I've not heard of this bad an experience either. I have ~8500 miles total on mine in 19 months, all with the race setting alignment, as it came from the factory. ~7500 miles are on the OEM Bridgestone summer-only tires and ~1000 miles are on Blizzaks (in winter). I DD it and only occasionally drive it very agressively, but have also had it on the track (road race circuit) one day for 5 x 25 minute all-out runs. The tires are all still looking great. I expect to get at least 15K, maybe 20K, out of each set.

If you have any patience left for Nissan, maybe you should try a different dealership/GT-R technician and may have better results. It seems a shame to have this bad problem ruin your exprerience with an otherwise great car. In any case, good luck.

I've autocrossed my 2009 5 times and noticed a fair amount of wear on the outsides but didn't notice how bad the insides were until I put my snows on in the fall. The car had 7500 miles on the tires when I bought it and is at 11000 now. They'd be done in one track day and a couple of autocrosses but I have a new set of Toyo R888s mounted and ready for track days and autocross only.
You are not the first to talk about heavy tire wear on this site. Look up "tire pressure" in the search, second post.
I'm getting my allignment checked and set for racing on April 10th, racing on April 11th. Check back and I'll post my findings on this thread.
Anyone had experience with the R888s?

Never said tires don't wear. Just not common for regular street driving. Anyone can search on a forum and find a related problem.

My experience mirrors that of CajunGodzilla. I have 6000 miles on mine,
also use it as a daily driver on lousy California roads, and have no
discernible tire wear. It's been on the track for two track days.
I'd concur that an opinion at a different dealership may be time well spent.
I have a 350 Z that had a shifter problem that was dismissed at one dealership but was handled with a transmission replacement under warranty at another. All dealerships are not the same.

I had wear problems due to incompetent mechanic at Porter Nissan in Newark Delaware. Seems he decided not to align my car at 1,000 check as he claimed the suspension should settle first?? WTF ??
In any case I found a place that shaved race tires to smooth out the cupping in my tires. The place is in SE PA Tirezone 866-208-6551 I wish I found these guys when I had my Z as ate tires. MY GT-R now has 7500 mi and tires still have lots of tread (Dunlop all season)
check this link out. http://www.tireshaving.com/tire_shav...aving_info.htm

Take it to a good mechanic and set it to less aggressive if it's just a street car. No need for so much camber and off set toe angles.

I've worked for a Nissan dealership in the past and I can tell you that as stated, NOT ALL DEALERSHIPS ARE THE SAME!! Take your car to another Nissan dealer and try them out. The technician working on your car may not be addressing the problem correctly.

Hey RX794, also on the island. Do you know of a qualified dealership in Suffolk County. Was thinking of going to Smithtown Nissan. Any thoughts?

I used to live on LI and if the Nissan in Smithtown is Haberstatds they were quite good run organization.
Traffic and taxes there were pretty rough 10yr ago. Hate to see it now.

I don't know if you are willing to drive to Hudson Nissan, but 5 of us just went there on Friday to meet with the Service Manager, GTR Mechanic?Technician, and to check out there facilities. They seemed pretty good and one of the guys that was there has been servicing his GTR there already.

I started with -1.6, went to -1.45, now at -1.5, zero toe. 5000 miles, 5 track days and 2 autocrosses. Went from extreme wear on the insides to rounding on the outside shoulders. Current setting seems to be giving best all-around wear. Car is extremely sensitive to front camber settings.

I mentioned the R888s before.
Great tires for autocross if you want to stick to stock wheel size.
Noisy as hell on the road.
I've knocked 2.5 to 3 seconds of a 60 sec run. and placing in the top 3 consistantly for raw times.
Track day is the next test.
I'll try the -1.5 camber next. Shoulder wear seems less so far.
I think the run flats side walls are an issue for wear.

The front inner sides were as bad or worse then the outers. (I drive pretty hard)
Its been into 2 different GTR dealers for general services and alignment. Both times alignment was to spec.
I''ll have a better idea of wear on the Proxes R888 after a couple more events and a track day.
Only problem so far - no spare tire.
