Default How Do i pass DMV inspection with HALTECH

I I'm really leaning on purchasing the Haltech Platinum series engine management for my 09 GT-R. I'm faced with a dilemma. even if i run it with factory base maps (during inspection) I'm worried that when they plug up to my serial port that it wont display a VIN number. so my question is, are our vin numbers (for inspection purposes) stored in our ECU's? or will they still show up during a scan even if the ecu is not present?

this will basically make or break my decision on COBB or Haltech. anyone that has had an emissions inspection or hooked up a scan/code tool in any state please chime in.

From my understanding that Haltech for GT-R is an add-on to the factory ECU, therefore all the factory info is still there. However I happened to talk to Haltech several weeks ago, Haltech stopped production for the R35 GT-R. Which left Cobb to be the main tuning device for the GT-R other than HKS's VPro setup.
