Default Ceramic brakes

Just for the sake of argument could we take the new Vette's ZR1 Carbon-Ceramic Brakes Brembo brakes and put them on the GTR easily? TB

I'm willing to bet the geometry is different in more ways than one. As well the cost of ceramic rotors would be sky high. The current OEM rotors are not cheap as well.

Perhaps the aftermarket will support such a rotor if the demand is there? I know Jun has a brake division that produces ceramic rotors but no mention at SEMA regarding the GTR units.

There is going to be some aftermarket brake solutions people are really going to like. some info was at sema on one brand.

ap racing also has annother aftermarket brake system

but most of all, you will see a big thanks to the spec-v! more info later. all these solutions are not carbon ceramic, except for one.

The OEM Brembos are great, don't get me wrong, but braking power is like horsepower, you can never have too much.

Nothing really wrong with the 2-piece x-drilled 15" rotors. The issue is the GTR is very heavy and will chew brakes frequently especially if tracked.

With our future brake set-ups we will also be offering Cryogenic treatment for longevity and performance. We have been using this process for our shop cars brakes and engine assemblies with excellent results. Alot of the Porsche racers locally use this treatment as well.

Going bigger or Ceramic is never a bad idea either but it won't be cheap!

Regards,

Vuk@AMS

on the race track the stock hardware is crap after long use. plus they will crack.

the advantage of carbon ceramic are very low for anyone thats not tracking the car. it will help brake later and last longer for race teams.

One big advantage, besides improved braking performance, I neglected to mention is the big (rotating) weight savings with a carbon ceramic brake kit.
With the GTR every ounce is big.

Also, don't forget, the biggest advantage to me is a lot less brake dust on the wheels.

BTW, I've been doing some looking around on the net for a way to buy the Nissan Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes on the SpecV for my stock GT-R.

Anyone have any ideas on who to go to besides brembo for any information?

Thanks.

The NISMO package won't be cheap. I'd wait for one of the Big Brake guys to come up with a solution.

Vuk,

Cryo treatment. Could you please provide me with more info on the subject. Also tentative dates on GTR availability ?

Ap racing is co developing carbon ceramics with stillen and a cooling pack to keep the heat down because they get way to hot otherwise. This is a few months out at most.

First of all I would like to say hi to everybody as a new user in this forum.
Since last week I'm proud owner of a GT-R in the European version. Through the positive press reports I was prepared for a lot, but until now the R35 exceeded my expectations.

What I found out after the first few hundred miles is that the brakes cause a lot of dust. I had the same phenomenom
in my BMW M3. BMW offered the chance to add a carbon/ceramic brake pad. Does anyone know if Nissan plans to add that extra on the regular GT-R as the SpecV will use a complete ceramic braking system?

Hey guys, we now offer the Alcon Big Brake SuperKit for the GT-R, and have a stocking order arriving soon:
http://www.nissangtrclub.com/showthread.php?t=2564

This is currently, by far, the best braking solution for the GT-R!

Here is a link to our source for treatment we have been using for years:

http://www.cryo-ice.net/index.html

Some Data on Brakes and the treatment:

Benefits and uses in the Race Industry:

We should have a full media release on our AMS Max-Slot (26) F/R rotors w/Aluminum Hats and cryo treatment options just before SEMA

No Jodas! Are you Spanish by the way?

I bought my car in Nissan Barcelona and have my services there.

You actually got the parts installed at a Nissan High performance center???....

I was interested in buying the Masterschaft exhaust for the car and maybe increasing the boost in the not too distant future...

What Nissan workshop did you take it to?

Default Alcon super brake kit

Had Alcon super brake kit installed on my '09 gtr and they are amazing. Factory brakes are great, but these feel like the brakes are now as powerful as the motor! No squeaks either, just a bonus.
