How long does the rattling last? Where is it coming from?

I moved your thread to the proper section so you will get better response. But I think from your description, it's sounds like it's probably the transmission noise which is normal.

I got it too, both starting and shutting down the engine...

I'm not sure how everyone else navigates this site. I always just click on "New Posts" in the welcome banner so it doesn't matter where the thread is grouped in. I'll still see new threads regardless.

I have the same rattling sound - it can be annoying to hear. One thing about your GT-R, it is full of rattling noises that originally got me concerned. But it appears that is the why the car is designed. Kind of odd.

Our problem is we do not know when the noise is and issue or simply rattling by design. Anyone have any good benchmark tests to use to determine when rattling is more than just rattling by design?

I do know that there is a redesigned flywheel housing for noise. I do not know if it was for a defect, or a slight change to keep the sound down. But that is what it most likely is.

the flywheel housing change was due to a problem with not just noise but also some vibration that owners can feel and a common way to determine this is if you feel it resonating through the steering wheel...

it is different than what the OP is describing...

here is the actual TSB from Nissan

I've got exactly the same rattling sound. Thought it was the exhaust. Was planning on asking dealer about it when I go for my 6,000 mile service.

I'm getting tired of all the rattles, especially when you take someone for a ride and they ask what all those noises are?.....In an $80,000 dollar car?

Likewise. Same rattling sounds also.

My dad has been asking whats that sound, where is it coming from etc? What to answer??

And he's making a fuss on how my previous BMW 645Ci smooth engine and ride was compared to R35. Sighh
