Default Clear Bra car care question

I have never had a clear bra placed on a car. The last bra i had placed on a car caused some paint issues, but was also a pre-made bra. It was for my mustang so since then I have never thought about using one again. I have a read a few good experiences here with the use of the clear bra. I just have a few questions (sorry if its posted somewhere, but I didnt find a link):

1. Should I get the car detailed before the Clear Bra process?
2. After the bra is on do I need to wax the car anymore since it has the bra?
3. Will the bra affect the appearance of the cars finish (ie Zaino's mirror like finish be dulled)?
4. How long do they last?
5. What is the car process for the clear bra?
6. Any comments or additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

ATL - Thanks for the reply. I will see if I can find a place in my area and see if they have a car I can take a look at. THe pictures I have seen here have all looked great so it seems like a good investment, especially if it enhances the look of the finish.

I am sorry, but I just realized I made a mistake. I somehow read it as clay bar (don't know why, must be still sleepy lol). But anyways, for "clear bra" you will also need to get the wax out the car on the surface you apply the clear bra. Let me try answering your question again

1. Should I get the car detailed before the Clear Bra process?
If I remember correctly, they will do a quick wash and some will try to get the wax off the car.

2. After the bra is on do I need to wax the car anymore since it has the bra?
Unless you apply the clear bra on the whole car, which is very uncommon, usually the clear bra is only applied to front bumper, partial to full hood, partial front fenders, and mirrors. Some times on the sides near the wheels, but not a full car. I don't think you will need wax on the clear bra, but still need on the other areas that are not covered.

3. Will the bra affect the appearance of the cars finish (ie Zaino's mirror like finish be dulled)?
The quality of clear bar matters. Some people I know who put the clear bra will turn to yellowish after a year or two b/c of cheap material they use, but I heard the 3M one does the job pretty good but much more expensive. Some people use partial on the hood, but I think that doesn't look too good because you can see the line across the hood. So, yes it will affect the look.

4. How long do they last?
Varies, cheap ones doesn't last long before they become yellowish.

5. What is the car process for the clear bra?
Clean wash, spray water, and apply.

6. Any comments or additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Do a full hood, front bumper and fenders, not partial.

Talking Hey i dont think that would affect your car paint

Car Bra are basically a detachable cover used to protect your grill and hoods they are made keeping in mind all this and such that they would not affect the car paint as the basic motive is of protection....so i dont think they would spoil you car paint.. :-)

ATL and Johhon thanks for the information.

ATL, your breakdaown ofmy questions was very helpful. I was thinking of doing front to rear fenders mainly because I got a chip on the rear quarter panel from a rock and a scratch from some debris. I dont know if this is a common area for the car to get chips, but I seem to have the most nicks/scratches there (second to the front bumper of course).

I just need to find a place here in the NJ region now . I heard great things about the 3M bra and heard they even offer a replacement warranty if it yellows.

Thanks again.

thank you for all the information. it is very helpful. I think I am going to try and get the car from the front to the rear fenders as i see to get random chips on the rear 1/4 panel. Idk, maybe i need to learn how to drive straight better lol.
