Default SpeedForSale Staged Upgrade List

Hey guys. Every day we answer the same question from many GT-R owners: "What is the best upgrade path for my GT-R?"

While this answer is not the same for every single owner, we have found that the following 'SpeedForSale Staged Upgrades' noted below have repeatable and reliable results with no compromises such as having boost spikes, lean issues, or other undesirable results.

STAGE 1:
Item 1: AccessPORT
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

Item 2: AAM V.1 High Flow Air Filters and polished intake pipes:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...be5ecghsm04fk4

Item 3: Catless Exhaust Y-Pipe (aka Mid-pipe or Front Pipe.) You have many choices:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

I would recommend either one of these two Y-pipes since they both have 76mm to 90mm piping, dual flex sections, and a small resonator:

Titek:

T1R:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

STAGE 2:
(stage 2 modifications will give very large power gains at low and mid RPM. But, due to the stock wastegate actuators being weak and the exhaust back pressure blowing them open, the boost will hit 16-17psi in the mid-RPM range and then at about 5000rpm boost will start falling off to about 12psi by redline. Stage 3 modifications will cure this boost drop at high RPM.)

Cat-back exhaust system. There are MANY options. The exhaust systems that are a 'Y' design are louder and flow more, but typically have more resonance. The systems that are the stock type layout ("figure 8") are typically a bit quieter and have less resonance:

STAGE 3:
(stage 3 modifications will yield VERY large horsepower gains above 5000 RPM thanks to the AAM heavy duty wastegate actuators being able to hold a steady 16+psi of boost all the way to redline, which the stock actuators cannot do.)

Item 1: Catless Exhaust Downpipes. Again, there are many choices, but I would go with T1R or AAM based on the quality and price. Don't forget to wrap the downpipes with heat wrap!:

Item 2: Heavy Duty Wastegate Actuators
I recommend AAM Competition Heavy Duty Wastegate Actuators:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

Item 3: Boost controller
I recommend an HKS EVC6 with EZ Writer software (to make tuning easy.) We can also provide a custom remote EVC tune:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

Item 4: HKS Super Fire Racing Spark Plugs, 1 heat range colder. 6x needed:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

STAGE 4:
MCR Intercoolers (for stock turbos) or Greddy Intercoolers (if you plan on going with a turbocharger upgrade.) The Greddy Intercoolers add a lot of intake tract volume, and therefore also add turbo lag during normal driving:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

STAGE 5:
Custom Remote eTune (via email) for AccessPORT that is customized for the modifications mentioned above:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

STAGE 6:
These are not absolutely necessary unless you run the car moderately hard on the street, drag race, road race, or live in a very hot climate. Stage 5 modifications are okay for short bursts on the street. But, for any kind of racing or very high speed runs, extra cooling is recommended, which the Stage 6 kit provides. Also, if you plan on going to Stage 7 or beyond, we do recommend this stage:

Item 1: SSP Transmission Fluid cooler:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Item 2: AAM Engine Oil Cooler:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

STAGE 7:
Item 1: SSP Polished Aluminum Intercooler hardpipes and HKS Super Sequential Blow off valves:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

or

AAM
Polished Aluminum Intercooler hardpipes and HKS Super Sequential Blow off valves:

Item 2: SSP GT820RR Twin Turbocharger Upgrade:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Item 3: SSP 820RS Intake Manifold:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Item 4: Deatschwerks 800cc Fuel Injectors, Drop-in GT-R specific:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Item 5: SSP RS Clutch pack upgrade:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Item 6: Custom Remote eTune for AccessPORT that is customized for the modifications mentioned above: https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...n491q5uh4511k6

These Stage 7 modifications should put your GT-R in the 600-700 wheel horsepower range depending on fuel octane, boost level, ambient conditions, and the brand of dyno used.

OTHER RECOMMENDED INITIAL UPGRADES:
Also, if you plan on drag racing your GT-R and will be using launch control, we advise upgrading at least the 1st Gear gearset in the transmission:
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Don't forget to upgrade your suspension
(at least the Cobb or Stillen Anti-Sway Bars are recommended to help change the GT-R's handling stance from understeer to neutral or even mild oversteer if adjusted correctly)::
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

Finally, here are upgraded brake rotors, pads, stainless lines, and fluid that will help haul down that heavy GT-R to a hault from high speeds!
https://www.speedforsale.com/nissang...s6e4vctkirddh3

We also offer a Track Brake package:

Any feedback is welcome!

I have now copied this thread to the General Section, as it has gotten good response and is a nice reference for those looking to upgrade their GT-R.
