Default Boost Increase

Quote:
The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside. (For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)

In contrast to the standard Nissan GT-R, that made the run around the 'Ring in 7:38, the GT-R V-Spec has a new front splitter, modified rear spoiler, and different wheels. A more extensive use of carbon fiber has reportedly reduced the weight by upwards of 330 pounds. Of course, Nissan engineers also tweaked the twin-turbo powerplant for another 70 horses... or so.

I read Nissans power goals to be 550 bhp, Nurb--ing Goal < 7:25, weight
- 330 lbs, and carbon ceramics.

Does anyone know whether they made any alteration to injector size, or other for the boost increase? It seems like they are using the same turbo set-up.

if it is like the the other GTRs the turbos would be the same, but the engine would be tweeked a little, mostly with the ECU...but this car is so different from its other brothers, I think that is why they drop th e name sklyline...

I may as well try to get a v spec ordered, since it's not looking too good for me to get a standard model right now.

It's wet ground, so I don't think it's something too proud to be announcing

someone was at the ring when Nissan did the testing. Here is what he said.

Quote:
RussRamz over at M5boards was at the ring.

I had the chance to see the GTR Spec V at the ring yesterday during the manufacturer's shakedown at the Briedsheid Bridge viewing point and at Dottinger Hohe. The car is fast and from my rough stopwatch estimates, it is a solid 7:30 car for a FULL LAP. Amazing!

The Nissan had a camera car helicopter (BO-105 with a stabilized camera) so I would imagine we will see some great aerial shots of the Nissan in the near future. I think SPort Auto was doing the "official" time on the Spec V. The weather was PERFECT yesterday.

It's not official yet, but it should be "Spec V".
"V Spec" is not used since they are used for the old generations of Skylines.

Sounds like it's going to be a wild ride but looks like its getting close to $100K or more with markup. There's just too many options at that price level. Think I'll stay with the 'regular' version.

Here is something interesting to read...

Quote:
The GTR Spec V on the other hand is having problems with weight reduction. Even with various parts being replaced with carbon, they cannot find the 150 kg off they were looking for. The rumour is that 100kg is the absolute max weight loss possible. Their problem lies largely in the weight of the transmission; thus there is little that can be done there, it seems. They have also found that increased engine power puts too much stress/strain on the transmission, gearbox and linkages; they are thus unable to increase the power by as much as they wanted. From 480 to 500 is really the only extra power extension that can be safely introduced, was the suggestion.
