It will make it look more like a vette. Photoshop it.

The wingless look is MUCH better!!
If that wing could come off easy, I'd do it in a second.
Much cleaner and mature looking to my eyes.
I may have to investigate getting that high school add-on off my trunk.

It should not be too complicate to take off the wing. The main problem is to find a good bodyshop to fill the holes or find the right plugs Or get a new trunk lid without the holes (not sure if new one came pre-drilled our not though).

my car was bought from copart wrecked and almost finished, my wing is on ebay right now, btw if someone is interested in removing their wing, the aluminum truck is a very thin guage and cannot be welded, i carried mine to a very reputable welding shop and they said it would warp, my bodyshop used a special resin fiberglass material to fill in the holes.
cheers

I agree. It would be great to have an option to delete it.
It does look much cleaner without the wing.

The Password JDM carbon fiber trunk has no holes in it and it's wingless.

Password JDM products aren't cheap either, it's like $2000 for this trunk.

Do you happen to have a closer view of it? Does it show the carbon
fiber weave, or does it look like the rest of the car?

If you were going to do it, you'd almost need the hood; I think it would
otherwise look out of place as the only carbon fiber part of the car.

Thanks for the pics and suggestions.
Considering this would be an $$$$ mod with complicated installation procedures also costing $$$$ - I'm out.
Looks like I'll be driving my GTR with the wing in place.
Unless Nissan decides they want it back and will take it off for free.

It absolutely looks a LOT cleaner and better without the wing (as do most cars IMO). But having driven the car at speeds of over 100 mph and into the 130s, and feeling the incredible downforce (which increases as the speed increases) locking down the car as if it was on rails, I'd be very nervous to see what the car is like at speed without the wing (unless some other aero mods were done to counter the lack of wing).

There's no doubt that on this car, the wing serves a functional purpose and
when I'm on the track, I'm glad to have it. But from a purely esthetic
standpoint, it looks way cleaner without it. Maybe on the next generation,
the design wizards can do some wind tunnel work and manage downforce
in a more elegant way.

I agree completely. Something like the tail end of the Ford GT would be nice. (I've always LOVED the entire look of that car, from any angle.)

Fortunately, our car is much more livable than a Ford GT. I was talking
to the owner of one at the track last year and he had to put foam behind
his back because the seats were so miserable. He said after about 50 miles, it was completely untenable. But, it sure does look great!
It goes pretty well, too.

im not putting the wing back on my car, and i dont believe after tring to get several professional tig welders to weld up the holes and all three were telling me its way to thin to weld, that tells me that wing cant have that much downforce with 4 small bolts attaching it to the trunk, the trunk would bend with that much downforce right ?, i may be wrong, just a thought, the vette dont have a wing and has speeds of 190 +

It's all about aero dynamic. You will be surprised that thel wing can actually generate enough downforce to make the car more stable at high speed or corners.
I have no doubt some can run a car without wing and reach high speed, but from an autosport guy's view, the wing will help the car to be more stable, pushing the rear to the ground to get better traction. If you look at almost at most auto racing series, it's hard to see one without a wing. Now don't get me wrong, I think a wingless GT-R looks really badass, but will it perform as well as one without a wing on a road course where downforce is really needed, it's hard to say.

Yeah, not a good idea to take the wing off. The car's design was tested through hours in the tunnel. Each curve on the car has a purpose and is made for high speeds on the track. As far as street use, it will probably be okay under 90 mph. I wouldn't say it looks better, just different.
