Default New England GTR owners

Anyone in New England interested in doing a meet and drive this summer? Sounds like there are quite a few of us in NE.

I live in Warwick, but grew up in NY and then Cranston.
Where do you live?
Have you tracked the GTR yet?

I now live in Osterville on Cape Cod. I haven't tracked the GTR because of fears that I will have major mechanical issues. There aren't any parts in the US to fix it. So when they become available. I most likely will. What about you. Brought it out on the track?

I brought it to Lime Rock and it was a blast. did 1:01's on the stock tires.

I wil say you can not really enjoy this car until you get it on the track and really really push it to see what it can do. This is the case more so then any other car I have owned. The 4 wheel drive system needs to be pushed very hard to really get the most out of it. There are times I was sure I would spin out and i just kept the throttle down in high rev's and the car went through it.
Down in Fl. I went to Morroso and was lucky enough to have a very skilled racer/instructor in my car to show me the line and he said he had been doing this for over 20 years the ride I gave him in the GTR was the first time the G forces got to him. No more need be said!
Let me know about a meet up and if you are ever near RI let me know.

I have driven Moroso. "The most dangerous track in North America". I would rather do the "Up hill at Limerock in a 1500 HP Manure kart", than drive that @#$% hole ever again. I know they have repaved. But I have also heard the reconfiguration was a joke.

It was smooth but not much rubber down yet so the stick was not there. I did not like the lack of run off on the back straight but it was still good to push the car safley.
Have you ever tracked at Lime Rock or the Glen? If yes with what and what times did you do?

I have been to Limerock many times. With Skip Barber Race Series and SCDA events. I have driven the Lotus the most. Best track car on the Planet. I have driven Homestead (infield and part of the oval), Mont-Tremblant, VIR, Montecello, Fontana (infield and part of the oval), Beavrun, Pocono, NHMSP, but I have not managed to make it to the Glen. Hoping to go this year with SCDA. I used to get unlimited track time with a company a couple buddies and I started up a few years ago. The company has since sold. But the website is still up. Check it out. supercarlife.com

I used to race in the Porsche club series and it was a blast. but divorce kinda put an end to that about 5 years ago. Have not done any tracking except for Lime Rock and Morroso the last fe months and i got the bug again. I may just buy a pure track car that is not crazy to up keep(like my Porsche is) and have fun.
You have to get to the Glen as it is could be the best track i the country! Very good for a high HP car.
What times did your Lotus do at Lime Rock?

You should check out scda1.com. Great company. Good way to quench that bug. Never having the opportunity to get in a real hot lap at LRP I would guess 1:02 or 1:03 in the Lotus. That car is so fast from turn 2 all the way to the down hill, I always end up in traffic. There was a Z06 there one day. He and I would change position every lap. He would take me on the straight, and I would take him in the No Name Straight. Finely pulled into the pits to give my self a gap and to find some new meat to play with. Ended up catching him 2 laps later. I love LRP. The new surface took a little getting used to.

I have run with that group a few times many years ago. I go to PDA events sometimes and I like track masters at the Glen. I will try a few in Fl. also. I did a 56 at LRP about 5 years ago in my Porsche so 1:01 witht he GTR on street tires made me very happy. I am dying to get some racing tires and see if the pushing is cut down a lot.
Have you rec'd any other responses to getting a group together in NE?

I have not. Beginning to think there are fewer Northeast GTR's than I thought. I put that out there because the only real Meet and Drives, if that's what you want to call them happen out west. I had an F430 a couple years ago. There wasn't a single Ferrari event for two years other than LRP vintage weekend. people up hear just don't want to play. I would be willing to organize an event if there was any interest. But, looks like people are satisfied reading about other people having fun. So, anyway. I will be at all the LRP events with SCDA. this year. I think April 7th is the first day. Then the 20th. Risky that time of year with the weather. But, since you are the only NE GTR owner other than myself. Hope to see you at one of their events.
